The concept of building a monument to the two wartime mayors of Warsaw, Stefan Starzyński and Julian Spitoslaw Kulski, has guided the Founding Council of the Foundation since its inception.
The first design concepts were formulated as early as in 2015.
From that moment on, the Foundation’s team has been taking many administrative and legal steps to ensure that the form and location of the monument adequately highlight the efforts made by Julian Spitoslaw Kulski and Stefan Starzynski for the advancement of the welfare of the people of the occupied capital.
Over the last four years, we started working with a number of state and private institutions that are committed to preserving the memory of the activities of the Mayors.
Working closely with the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the design team determined that the monument is to be located in an area adjacent to the Royal Castle Gardens, next to a footpath.
The majority of administrative and legal steps related to the construction of the monument are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2019. The majority of administrative and legal steps related to the construction of the monument are expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2019.
